Element Presents Mike V. & Ray Barbee “Tribute”

Mike Vallely and Ray Barbee have made immeasurable contributions to the world of skateboarding and Element is proud to recognize their twenty plus years of individualism with the Tribute board collection.

Each deck references the pro’s most iconic board graphic. Mike V’s new art references his long-standing personal icons: the lightning bolt and the African elephant, imagery that has been reflected in his graphics since he first went pro for Powell in 1987. Mike has blazed a singular trail through skateboarding ever since, and has been seen in countless skate videos, TV shows and major motion pictures. Mike continues to regularly tour the world as a professional skateboarder, Element Advocate and lifelong rock’n’roller.

Ray Barbee’s new graphic was created by artist Sean Cliver and is a sequel to his 1989 “Stitchhead” graphic, both his first pro graphic and Cliver’s first board graphic. Since then, Ray has enjoyed a long career spanning an endless string of famous videos, world tours, pro contests and more recently a second career as a musician. Sean Cliver has made an equal impact on the history pages of skateboarding, creating some of the most memorable board graphics ever, evident in his skate graphics book “Disposable” and more recently “The Disposable Skateboard Bible.” Ray also has a new set of Vans pro shoes out now, reflecting the three decades of skating he has been a vital part of.

After more than twenty years of hard work as pro skaters, Mike V. and Ray Barbee remain highly motivated, vital and elemental forces in skateboarding, and Element is excited to release the Tribute Collection. Element for Life.
